The Artist: Miguel Paredes

Miguel Paredes, a prominent portrait artist from Madrid, Spain today enjoys a worldwide popularity that few artists attain.

He first attempted painting at the early age of seven, but it would take time and hard work to transform that child into a great portrait artist. Many years of self-study, as well as attending the Academy de Saint Carlos in Mexico City, ultimately culminated in Miguel’s work reflecting the style, warmth and rare quality of the Old Masters.

Preferring oils and pastels to other media, the naturally talented artist has become a master of realism. His award-winning paintings can be found in private collections throughout the world.

  His constant and greatest challenge is to capture, not just the likeness of a person, but the character and personality of that person as well.
